How to check whether a digital account can be transferred

Before listing any online account or digital asset, start with the provider's current terms. Some services allow a formal ownership transfer, some permit assignment only in limited circumstances and others prohibit resale entirely.

1. Read the current provider terms

Look for sections covering assignment, resale, transfer, account ownership and authorized users. A listing should not rely on assumptions or outdated forum posts.

2. Confirm the seller controls the asset lawfully

Ownership evidence should match the product being offered. Never list credentials obtained through compromise, impersonation or unauthorized access.

3. Identify the approved handover method

If the provider offers an official ownership-change process, describe it accurately. If no legitimate transfer mechanism exists and the terms prohibit transfer, the product should not be listed.

4. Explain limitations before payment

Region restrictions, subscription periods, renewal obligations and post-transfer support should be disclosed on the listing.

5. Keep the listing current

Terms and products change. Add a visible update date and recheck important claims periodically.
